The Best Race Car Birthday Party Ideas
This race car themed birthday party was so much fun to create for a super cute twins who were turning 2. When mom and I met, we went through all the details that she wanted to see for her sons on their special day.
This birthday celebration was setup outdoors and as always - the highlight of the celebration was the dessert table. It was filled with car themed cookies, cupcakes, and a cake with the bottom layer resembling a car tire and the top layer looking like the checkered flag. Behind the table, I hung a white fabric so I could display the printable Happy Birthday banner (which is also included in the printable race car party kit). And because the sunlight was going to be right there at the table area, we thought having a curtain would work best to create some shade.
With just 10 little guests at the party, I was able to easily add personalized details - like the labels on their drinking cups.

Now that we covered the sweet party of the celebration, let’s head to the welcome area which greeted guests to the Austin Motor Speedway (since we are located in Austin, Texas). The look was completed with inflatable tires which are actually pool floats since it’s always fun to use items as decorations that can be re-used after the party.
There was even a “Racers Lounge” to allow guests a place to sit and mingle with each other. It featured a huge balloon garland in the party colors of black, white and red and even had a fringe garland backdrop with red Adirondack chairs.
Party Favors featured fun car themed thank you tags which you can download for free (see sign up link above in this post) and I tucked in a checkered flag behind the favor tag on each bag.
Moving onto the snacks - we had “fuel” (aka “high octane treats”) for the guests. These were actually boxes that resembled gasoline containers and held popcorn.
Food was presented on tall tables and round stands that had roadway tape around the top edges. For the tables - cones were of course a decor accent and we had trophy style drinking cups that I personalized from the printable kit. Water bottles had race car themed labels wrapped around them and the straws had matching flags (these are also available in the kit).
And, lastly - the party featured a super fun photo booth that their mom (who owns The Airy Experience) helped create. This area was highlighted with another balloon garland and I tucked black and white checkered flags in between the balloons. There were large oversized mylar balloon letters that read “FAST” and a podium style stand for the kids to stand on depending on if they came in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in their race.
